Enjoy hikes or horseback riding tours through the Nature Reserve Volcano Cosigüina, which is located in the extreme north-west of Nicaragua and surrounded by extensive wetlands, with a high concentration of exotic birds. You will walk through a part of the largest tropical dry forest in Nicaragua where you can observe a great biodiversity of flora and fauna. Climb the volcano, which last erupted in 1859. It has an altitude of 859 meters and its most famous activity occurred in 1835, when it produced the largest historical eruption in Nicaragua. Ash had been found in Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica. On the top of the huge crater you will have a breathtaking view to its deep-lying crater lake and the Gulf of Fonseca.
